James Richardson Ventures oversees all early-stage activity for the James Richardson Group. This covers James Richardson Ventures, the investment mandate, and the JR/AUS.IL program, which assists Israeli tech startups expand their business into Australia.

JR/AUS.IL is a platform which assists Israeli tech startups to seamlessly expand their business into Australia.

  • In May 2023 James Richardson Group sold its interest in JR/Duty Free to Gebr. Heinemann, a 50/50 partner in the Israeli company since 2018, thus marking the end of an era in the Duty Free/Travel Retail industry.

    James Richardson had been continuously involved in the Duty Free/Travel Retail industry since 1972 when its founder, the late David Mandie AM. OBE, opened his first Duty Free store at Brisbane International Airport. Over the following decades, the business grew to include locations in Australia, New Zealand, Israel and Tahiti.

    In December 2018 James Richardson sold its travel retail business in Australia and New Zealand to Lotte Duty Free.
